Artist’s Note

I personify modern people as sparrows, capturing fleeting emotions and brief moments of happiness within the repetition of everyday life.
Through the gaze and gestures of these small birds, I express the delicate emotions we often miss—
the subtle balance between solitude and connection, comfort and longing in the midst of the city.

The rhythmic colors in my paintings are inspired by saekdong, a traditional Korean patchwork,
blending urban sensibilities with the warmth of Korean heritage.

A vase, which often appears in my work, symbolizes my own quiet and stable world—
a safe space where emotions can pause and gently settle.

Within a scene of sparrows, flowers, light, and shadow,
I hope my paintings offer someone a moment of stillness,
or the chance to recall a forgotten feeling.
Perhaps happiness truly lives in such small and quiet moments.

저는 현대인을 참새로 의인화하여, 반복되는 일상 속에서 스쳐 지나가는 감정과
행복의 찰나를 포착해 작품에 담고 있습니다.
작은 새들의 시선과 몸짓을 통해 우리가 종종 놓치고 마는 섬세한 감정들,
그리고 도시 속에서 느끼는 고독과 연결, 위로와 그리움 사이의 미묘한 균형을 표현합니다.

작품 속 색의 리듬은 한국 전통 색동에서 영감을 받아,
도시적인 감각과 한국적인 정서를 조화롭게 녹여냅니다.

자주 등장하는 꽃병은 나만의 조용하고 안정된 세계를 상징하며,
감정이 잠시 머물고 가라앉을 수 있는 따뜻한 안식처의 공간을 의미합니다.

참새, 꽃, 빛, 그림자가 어우러진 화면 속에서
누군가에게는 잠시 멈추는 평온한 시간이,
또 다른 누군가에게는 잊고 있던 감정 하나를 다시 떠올리는 계기가 되기를 바랍니다.
행복은 어쩌면, 그렇게 작고 조용한 순간 속에 머물고 있는 것 아닐까요.
